We want you to know we think you are awesome! We know that you have a great future ahead. We want to help you take the first steps to get there. We are really good at this. We have been helping young people just like you for over 30 years.
We want you to know that you are welcome at Covenant House New Jersey!
Please don’t worry about your past or the challenges you face. We promise you there is not much that we haven’t already seen or heard. There is no judgment here. We love you just as you are! We are here to support you as you move forward in your journey. 🙂
We have designed our services just for you! You are welcome regardless of your race, your religion, your gender identity, or sexual preference.
All of our services are free.
We are a safe place and not at all what you might think of as a shelter. Below you will find information on our Residential Crisis Centers in Newark and Atlantic City which are open all the time. We will also provide information about our young moms and babies program. Our young people created three videos to show you around each of these locations. We hope you enjoy them. They were made just for YOU! ❤️
You can get something to eat and some clean clothes. We have a safe place for you to sleep. We will help you put a plan together to move forward in getting a job or your education. We even have lawyers and healthcare professionals on staff.
As you progress in your goals, you can move from the Residential Crisis Center to other appropriate housing options.

My name is Jim.
If you are reading this, there is a good chance that you need some help. If you are under the age of 22 and don’t have a safe place to live, food to eat, or are being hurt by someone, we are here for you.
Covenant House New Jersey is a safe place, filled with lots of young people just like you and a staff who lives to help you. I get that that may be hard to believe. That is why we created this website to help you see who we are and what we do.
Above are links to some short videos that our young people put together just for you. At one time, they were where you are now. They remember the courage that it took to walk through our doors. They want to make it easier for you to come in and give us a chance to help you. They are very glad they did.
Please know, we will treat you with unconditional love and respect. We won’t judge you. I can assure you there isn’t anything you have done or are going through that we haven’t already seen. We designed our services to help you overcome the obstacles you face. Oh, and everything is FREE, really, you don’t pay anything, ever, and you don’t need any insurance.
When you come, you can have something to eat, a shower, and a safe place for you to sleep and get some rest. We will help you design a plan to move forward from here to a place and a time where you can live on your own. But it is your plan, you choose what is the right direction for you, education, career, return to family, start out on your own or something else. No strings.
I look forward to meeting you. I wish you the very best – no matter where your future leads.
Covenant House New Jersey
If you are in need, our outreach team can provide you with food, water, warm clothing, and blankets. It is our hope to earn your trust. We want you to know that Covenant House New Jersey is a safe place and that we are here to help you.
When you are ready, you will first come to one of our Residential Crisis Centers. They are located in Newark and Atlantic City. These locations operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
When you arrive you will be given a meal, a shower, and a bed where you can get some rest. Our team will listen to your needs. They will help you to create your own plan to begin moving towards your future.
We have a medical services office on site to meet your needs staffed with medical professionals.
Our on-site, licensed mental health care staff will assess your emotional well being. We want to be sure we get you the help you need.
We want you to always have a safe place to live. To do this, you will need to have an income. You may want to do that sooner or you may want to choose a career where you will have to complete some schooling first. That is up to you. We want to help you either way.
We have a new initiative called the Dove Learning Center to help you with your education and career goals as well as the skills necessary to succeed in life.
We have a Youth Advocacy Center to help you clear your legal obstacles so you can move out of homelessness.
We have helped youth with their municipal court matters, immigration issues, and a wide range of victim services including human trafficking.
At Covenant House New Jersey, we also like to have fun by hosting events to celebrate special occasions, birthdays, graduations, and the holidays.
The journey you will take to your future is YOUR journey. While we are here to help, the path you choose is entirely up to you. You may decide to be with us for a short time and reconnect with family. You may choose to stay with us and move from our Crisis Center to transitional living programs. We also have Independent Living Services for youth who live in the community.
Currently, we have 12 locations across the state of New Jersey to help you and other young people. We are continuing to expand our programs to meet the ever-changing needs of our youth.

We believe that you have rights. The right to a home… The right to food… The right to guidance and an education… The right to be free from sexual, emotional, or physical abuse... The right to be free from someone trying to use you for their purposes... The right to be safe… The right to be loved.
