Our Next Step in Transitioning Youth to Independent Living

For many of our youth, the Rights of Passage (ROP) Program is the next step beyond Crisis Care for young men and women on their journey to independent living. To progress to ROP, our youth have obtained employment and are earning income.

Rights of Passage (ROP) is set up to help them enhance their resilience and skills to transition to independent living. At ROP, they have their living space and are responsible to buy and prepare their own meals, but pay no rent. CHNJ continues to provide 24/7 onsite supervision to each of our three locations in Asbury Park, Atlantic City and Newark.

The program’s mandatory savings plan enables youth to save up for the time they move on to permanent housing.
