GET HELP - Are you a young person in need of help?

Stay Home, Sleep Out, Save Lives!

Important COVID-19 Sleep Out Update

To ensure everyone’s safety during the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have adjusted our Sleep Out Spring Schedule and the format of the actual events themselves. We have determined that for everyone’s safety, it would be best to hold these events virtually.

Participants will recruit others to join them, raise funds that will care for homeless and trafficked youth, and then sleep out in solidarity with our young people. Then on the evening of their Sleep Out our heroes will join us for an impactful and interactive program. At the conclusion, sleepers will sleep outside on their porches, garages, or cars just as our kids do. Fundraising all remains the same and is more critical now than ever. We ask you to please join us as together we will make it possible to continue caring for our very courageous young people.

I am ready to Sleep Out. Where do I sign up?

Sleep Out

What is a Sleep Out?

Sleep Outs are events that help Covenant House raise awareness about the problem of youth homelessness while raising critical funds needed to continue caring for the more than 3,000 homeless kids that come to Covenant House New Jersey (CHNJ) each year in crisis.

By sleeping out with us, you are standing with our kids and us ensuring that we can continue to care for New Jersey’s homeless youth. Your fundraising efforts have a direct effect on the services that we provide.

Our work at CHNJ is funded primarily through private donations, enabling us to provide the best care possible. The more money we raise, the more kids we can care for, and the better the services we can provide to them.

What can I expect from a Sleep Out?

By registering to Sleep Out, you are sacrificing your comfortable bed for one night and choosing to sleep outside at one of our events so that homeless youth won’t have to.

Once you register to Sleep Out at one of our events, our Sleep Out coordinators will be available to you every step of the way to help you meet your fundraising goals and ensure you have the best experience possible. We will provide you with a personal website that you can customize and send out to your family, friends, and community to support your efforts with a financial gift. Since Covenant House New Jersey is a 501 (c) 3, donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The night of the Sleep Out, you will join us for an engaging, interactive virtual event. You will meet some of our young people and our staff. After the program, you will sleep out somewhere other than your regular bed. This could be a porch, garage, backyard, or even your couch. All places our young people occupy when they don’t have a safe place to sleep.

The next morning we will get back together virtually to reflect on the experience. We guaranteed that the experience will be impactful.

“I sleep out because it's my choice.
The thousands of homeless youth who sleep out don't have a choice - it's their reality.”

- Steve Frankel - 7th Sleep Out
