GET HELP - Are you a young person in need of help?

Important COVID-19 Sleep Out Update

To ensure everyone’s safety during the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have adjusted our Sleep Out Spring Schedule and the format of the actual events themselves. While we had originally hoped that moving events from spring to early summer would allow us to host events at their originally planned locations, we have determined that for everyone’s safety it would be best to hold these events virtually. As such, our Student Sleep Outs will be held as virtual events. With experience we are getting quite good at hosting virtual events. We will send out links for you to join us live for an engaging program via your computer or smart phone. Then you sleep outside at your home or in your car. Fundraising all remains the same and is more important now than ever. We ask you to please join us as together we will make it possible to continue caring for our very courageous young people.

Stay Home, Sleep Out, Save Lives!

By organizing a Covenant House New Jersey’s Students Sleep Out you will help your group of young people experience first-hand what it is like to step into the shoes of some of their peers who struggle from the devastation of poverty, abuse, and neglect.

This 12-hour event will be something that your students will likely remember for the rest of their lives. Your students will sleep outside at their home to better understand what it is like to be homeless. Prior to the event, your students reach out to their family and friends to raise money. The money they raise will be used to help the young people who come to Covenant House New Jersey for help.

Our Sleep Outs also give your students the opportunity to directly impact social change. Their efforts will provide nutritious meals for homeless kids living right here in New Jersey. (Planning and participating in a Covenant House New Jersey Sleep Out also looks great on applications.)

This year, we are asking each student sleeper to raise $300. It costs us $10 to feed a young person 3 warm meals for one day. So $300 will help us feed one young person for a whole month.

How many young people can your team feed this year?

So, What’s Next?

Students Sleep Out events come in all shapes and sizes. It is all up to you! You pick the who, when, and the where.

Your first step is to reach out to our Student Sleep Out expert Celese Lindsey. She will explain our 5 simple steps.

1) Decide on the particulars.

2) Recruit the sleepers.

3) Encourage everyone to fundraise.

4) Host the event.

5) Celebrate your success!

Celese will provide you with the toolkit to do it all. Our website makes it easy to collect and track donations, along with spreading awareness. So please take the next steps to help your students and our kids.
