We have implemented a detailed protocol and process to maintain the safest environment for our young people and our staff.
As of April 27, we have no known cases of COVID-19 at any of our Covenant House New Jersey homes.
We are caring for more than 100 young people at our Rights of Passage homes and independent living apartments.
We have 55 young people who are in residence with us at our two crisis shelters. In addition to a warm bed, three meals a day, they are receiving additional support services from our staff to work through this pandemic.
We have converted classrooms into isolation units should youth display COVID-19 symptoms.
We are caring for nine moms and their babies at our Mom and Babies Program.
We recently implemented teletherapy to increase services to young people in need.
On April 8th one of our moms delivered a healthy baby girl. We have another young lady who is about to give birth.
The majority of our young people are not able to work, as most businesses have closed.
Essential personnel remains on-site with the youth using rotating schedules consistent with medical staffing best practices.
Non-essential staff is working from home utilizing remote technology and video conferencing.
A significant effort is made each day to clean all common areas.
All staff and young people are equipped with masks.
Relationships with community healthcare providers and local hospitals continue to strengthen, enabling us to coordinate medical care for our young people, our moms, and babies.
