Julia Einbond to Become Executive Director

In a communication to staff and the broader CHNJ community, current Executive Director, Jim White, shared the news that he will be stepping down as Executive Director effective July 1, 2023. Julia Einbond will become the Executive Director at that time with Jim continuing his involvement at CHNJ with special projects. The full communication from Jim is contained below.

Jim White, Current Executive Director

I am excited to share great news regarding the leadership of Covenant House New Jersey.

I have decided to step down as Executive Director of Covenant House New Jersey, effective July 1, 2023, but I will be continuing at CHNJ with special projects. Our CHNJ Board, along with Kevin Ryan, Covenant House International President, have been working to ensure that we identify the right person to fill the role.  The Executive Director needs to be fully dedicated to the mission and understand our organization and the importance of community.  They need to be a person who can advance the care of the young people we serve and support the staff who serve them.

I could not be happier with their choice, and I believe you will all feel the same.

Julia Einbond has been selected as the Executive Director of Covenant House New Jersey, effective July 1, 2023.

Julia Einbond, Executive Director Effective 7/1/23

Julia joined Covenant House NJ in 2015 as its first Director of Strategy and Learning.  Since that time, Julia has helped to establish CHNJ as a leader in using data and information to strengthen and redesign programs to enhance outcomes for youth facing homelessness and survivors of trafficking.  As the Associate Executive Director of CHART (Covenant House Action Research Tank), she has propelled CHNJ as a national expert in the anti-human trafficking field of practice.

Before joining CHNJ, Julia worked as a consultant for various United Nations agencies and international NGOs, conducting evaluations on programs on a range of topics, including child protection, gender-based violence, justice, and results-based management.

Julia received her JD from New York University, where she was a Root Tilden Kern Scholar. After graduation, she clerked for The Hon. Mitchell S. Goldberg of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Julia received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College.

Please join me in congratulating Julia. I feel so fortunate to transition this work that I love and value to Julia, a very talented and highly capable leader. Lucky us!

I look forward to continuing on as a member of the Covenant House community.

Peace,

Jim
