Sleep Out: One Purpose. One Night. One Community.

For the last 10 years, Covenant House’s Sleep Out Movement has raised almost $100 million to help us relentlessly support young people facing homelessness with programs that give them tools to succeed for the long term.

Last year alone, CHNJ raised $2.7 million through our Sleep Outs to serve youth facing homelessness aged 18-24 who call one of CHNJ’s 7 locations “home”. Each year, we are amazingly grateful for committed individuals who chose to sleep out again and again to make a crucial difference in the lives of young people.

It helps me raise awareness, as well as money. It reminds me how fortunate I am and how important it is to support Covenant House and the people it serves.  If I can sleep out one night a year so they have a warm bed when they need it most, it’s the least I can do.

This will be my 9th consecutive year of sleeping out, why? I sleep out to advocate/ bring awareness to and support homeless youth as well as trafficked youth, that they will always have a safe respite.  If not me then who?

Charisse Fizer – 9th year Sleeper, Atlantic City Community Edition

The Sleep Out resonated with our executives and they look forward to it every year. It is a memorable, impactful, first-person experience. They are changed by their discomfort. They are changed by their empathy. They are changed by what they had to endure. There is no other engagement like Sleep Out.
