NY Giants Support Sleep Out

Press Release: November 15, 2021 – Covenant House New Jersey (CHNJ) is a bridge to hope for young people facing homelessness and survivors of human trafficking through unconditional love, absolute respect, and relentless support. Our doors are open 24-7 in 7 locations across New Jersey. CHNJ’s high-quality programs are designed to empower young people to rise and overcome adversity today and in the future. On November 18, 2021, executives from all over New Jersey will join our chairman Saquon Barkley from the NY Giants and several dedicated players for Sleep Out: Executive Edition. Both Saquon and the NY Giants have been part of our Covenant House New Jersey team for many years, scoring big wins for the young people facing homelessness we serve each day!  So far, the Sleep Out has 197 participants who are part of 27 teams working towards a $1,500,000 goal!

Sleep Out participants are not pretending to be homeless. Their night outside is an act of solidarity with the 4.2 million young people who experienced homelessness last year, recognizing the issue of youth homelessness and sending a message to homeless kids that they are not alone.

Allison Stangeby, Vice President of Community & Corporate Relations, for the NY Giants shared, ”For years the NY Giants have worked with non-profit organizations throughout the tri-state area.  Covenant House New Jersey is one of the initiatives that we are passionate about.  The hope and unconditional love that they provide to these young people in crisis is the reason that they are able to find a permanent living situation along with opportunities to end the cycle of homelessness.”

“We are so grateful for this partnership with Saquon, the players, and the New York Giants, and that they believe in our vision for helping our young people achieve their dreams and goals,” says Covenant House New Jersey’s Director of Development, Janette Dubenezic. “Today, our young people are working or going to school; some are doing both. We know that if young people who experience homelessness are given a safe and supportive environment, they can move beyond homelessness to a life of fulfilling their dreams and everything they deserve.”

Saquon & his teammates are making a difference in the lives of our youth. Become a champion for our young people! Please consider making a donation to the Sleep Out: Executive Edition HERE
