GET HELP - Are you a young person in need of help?

Date: 07/14/2022

School’s out for summer and in the 2021-22 school year, students across the state stepped up again to help the youth we serve at Covenant House New Jersey (CHNJ).  Student Sleep Outs throughout the year provided amazing support to us by raising a remarkable $334,000.

Madison High School

This past year, roughly 850 students made a huge difference in the lives of youth facing homelessness by either participating at their school Sleep Out or participating in one of the many Sleep Outs we hold throughout the year such as Women Unite, NJ Community or Montclair Community. Highlights included

  • John Asselta & St Joseph’s Regional High School celebrated 12 years of Sleep Out.
  • In June, at our annual gala, Night of Broadway Stars, Delbarton was one our Beacon of Hope recipients having collectively raised over $500,000 over the years to support CHNJ.
  • Aidan Maione was named top sleeper from St. Peter’s Prep, and the school had a record 147 students participate.
  • Madison HS was named the top public school.
  • St. Joseph’s High School of Metuchen Kicked off season with first in person sleep out since 2020.
  • Pingry School & Seven Scoops were inducted into the 20K Club (over $20,000 raised).
  • Knollwood had the youngest group of student sleepers for the second year in a row.
  • Montclair State University hosted their first student Sleep Out.
  • Nathan Zanetich was named top student for Sleep Out: Action For Change.
  • Lincoln Kozak was named top student for Sleep Out: Montclair Community Edition.
  • Barrett Heine was the overall top sleeper Sleep Out: Community Edition.
  • Newark Academy led by Sarah Fischer was well represented at Sleep Out: Women Unite in Newark.

Thank you to all the students who supported us this year and helped make a difference in the lives of youth facing homelessness.  We are looking forward to even more support this coming year.

Students: Sleep out this year – learn more by contacting AJ Albanese (aalbanese@covenanthouse.org) or learn more by going to our Sleep Out website.  Parents: Encourage your children to learn more by reaching out to us. It’s a wonderful gesture for a wonderful cause and it also looks great on a student’s resume. 😊
