CHNJ Celebrates Mental Health Awareness Month
At Covenant House New Jersey, we are prioritizing youth wellness because we know that mental health is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. For the young people we serve, many of whom have faced trauma, instability, and homelessness, access to mental health support is a crucial step on their journey toward healing and independence. Nowhere is this more evident than at Nancy’s Place, our supportive transitional housing program designed specifically for young adults living with a mental health condition. At Nancy’s Place, youth receive not just a roof over their heads, but the compassionate, trauma-informed care they need to move forward.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we are proud to spotlight two generous partners who are helping us champion wellness in meaningful ways:
🌿 Kia of Parsippany: 40 Mental Health Kits for Youth
We’re excited to announce that Kia in Parsippany, NJ is donating 40 Mental Health Kits to support the wellness of youth at our Newark Youth Engagement Center (YEC). These thoughtfully assembled kits will include items that promote self-care, mindfulness, and emotional well-being—tools that help empower our youth to take charge of their mental health. The kits will be delivered to the YEC on May 28.
🏃 Brick City Run Club: 50 Wellness Kits and a Community Invitation
On May 31, the Brick City Run Club will assemble 50 Wellness Kits onsite, reaffirming their commitment to supporting mental health and our youth. But they’re going even further: they’ve invited CHNJ staff and youth to participate in an upcoming weekend run. This is more than just exercise—it’s an opportunity to build community, destigmatize mental health conversations, and promote the importance of staying active for both physical and emotional health.
These initiatives reflect the spirit of Mental Health Awareness Month—and the heart of CHNJ’s mission which includes prioritizing youth wellness. Whether it’s through the safe, healing environment of Nancy’s Place or the simple, powerful act of assembling a wellness kit, we are reminded that mental wellness is a collective responsibility.
As we continue our mission to provide not only shelter but healing and hope, we are deeply grateful for supporters who help us elevate the importance of mental wellness—this month and every month. Thank you to Kia and Brick City Run Club for helping us bring hope, visibility, and healing to the youth who need it most.
