Saquon Barkley to Lead a Special Team of New York Giants “Tackling Youth Homelessness”

When the New York Giants step onto the field this season they will be tackling more than just their opponents. This year they will be tackling youth homelessness.  Covenant House New Jersey is thrilled to be a partner with the New York Giants for their Inspire Change Initiative for the 2020-2021 season. Despite not being in the stands this fall, fans will have the unique opportunity to workout virtually with New York Giants players Saquon Barkley, James Bradberry and their teammates while helping our youth overcome homelessness.

As a part of the “Inspire Change Initiative”, The New York Giants have committed to working with nonprofits to support and raise awareness about topics surrounding social justice, including, but not limited to, education, criminal justice reform, community/police relations, poverty, racial equality, and workforce/economic development.

“I have been involved with Covenant House New Jersey (CHNJ) for three years and have seen firsthand the difference this program makes in the lives of the amazing young people they serve,” said Covenant House superstar and Sleep Out: Executive Edition Chairman, Saquon Barkley.  “I hope our fans will join us for the workouts to support the resilient and courageous young people at Covenant House New Jersey.”

The “Tackle Youth Homelessness” campaign will give fans the opportunity to sign up for a series of four 45-minute live-streamed workout sessions.  For $50 per session, participants will be able to directly help our young-people move towards resilience and independence and connect with their favorite team from home! All proceeds will go to our Dove Learning Center, which provides support services for education, job training, financial literacy, career exploration, and mental health and wellness.

“The New York Giants have been extraordinary partners to us,” said Covenant House New Jersey Executive Director Jim White. “ For many years, they have committed to showing up for our young people, and we are filled with gratitude for their continued support and inspiration.”

Event registration will open on September 8th at 12:00 PM EST, as Barkley and Bradberry announce their team lineup for the players and coaches who will be leading the virtual workouts. Space is limited to 275 participants per session.
