As Women’s History Month comes to a close, CHNJ is amplifying the voice of women in our community because when Women Unite and bring their whole selves to create solutions the impact is felt by all of us.
Who I am professionally and personally are inextricably linked. My purpose in life is to be of service to others in meaningful ways that make a sustainable difference. That’s one of the reasons why I’m grateful to be on the Board of Directors at Covenant House New Jersey. Everyone has a unique value to add, and that is especially true of women whose multi-faceted roles in life lend incredibly rich perspectives that improve the world.Jan Percival, CHNJ Board Member
Like Jan, you can make a difference in the lives of youth facing homelessness because young people do not belong on the street, they belong in spaces where they are safe and well. Like Jan, are you ready to support us at Sleep Out Women Unite on Thursday May 4th? And it’s going to be a special one! It’s being presented by the NY Giants and held on the field at MetLife Stadium as hosted by Beth Daboll and Marie Schoen.
Sleep Out is a transformative overnight experience, similar to a 5K walk/run for a cause, where our youth, partners, volunteers, and staff all come together in solidarity, either virtually or in-person. The night includes a series of impactful programs and workshops, then everyone hunkers down and sleeps outside overnight. In the morning there is a time for reflection with everyone that is always very moving.
Prior to the event, participants engage in peer to peer fundraising. The funds raised by sleepers and sponsors through Sleep Out are a lifeline for youth overcoming homelessness. The movement includes executives, professionals, students, influencers, and individuals from across the state. As we close Women’s History Month, now is a great time to unite and take action as a woman by sleeping out to help the youth facing homelessness that we serve.
