Covenant House New Jersey COVID-19 Status as of April 27th, 2020:
- We have implemented a detailed protocol and process to maintain the safest environment for our young people and our staff.
- As of April 27, we have no known cases of COVID-19 at any of our Covenant House New Jersey homes.
- We are caring for more than 100 young people at our Rights of Passage homes and independent living apartments.
- We have 55 young people who are in residence with us at our two crisis shelters. In addition to a warm bed, three meals a day, they are receiving additional support services from our staff to work through this pandemic.
- We have converted classrooms into isolation units should youth display COVID-19 symptoms.
- We are caring for nine moms and their babies at our Mom and Babies Program.
- We recently implemented teletherapy to increase services to young people in need.
- On April 8th one of our moms delivered a healthy baby girl. We have another young lady who is about to give birth.
- The majority of our young people are not able to work, as most businesses have closed.
- Essential personnel remains on-site with the youth using rotating schedules consistent with medical staffing best practices.
- Non-essential staff is working from home utilizing remote technology and video conferencing.
- A significant effort is made each day to clean all common areas.
- All staff and young people are equipped with masks.
- Relationships with community healthcare providers and local hospitals continue to strengthen, enabling us to coordinate medical care for our young people, our moms, and babies.
