COVID-19 Status – July 15, 2020

Covenant House New Jersey COVID-19 Status as of July 15th, 2020:

To date, no youth or staff at any of our ten Covenant House New Jersey locations have tested positive.

  • We are caring for more than 100 young people at our Rights of Passage homes and independent living apartments.
  • Our Crisis shelters continue to be open welcoming homeless youth who have no other place to go.
  • We are caring for ten moms and their babies at our Mom and Babies Program. Two of our moms delivered healthy babies.
  • We recently implemented teletherapy to increase services to young people in need.
  • Relationships with community healthcare providers and local hospitals continue to strengthen, enabling us to coordinate medical care for our young people, moms, and babies.
  • With the reopening of businesses, many of our young people have begun to secure employment and begin to save a portion of their income.
  • Essential personnel remains on-site with the youth using rotating schedules consistent with medical staffing best practices. All staff and young people are equipped with masks.
  • Non-essential staff is working from home utilizing remote technology and video conferencing.
  • We continue to carry out a detailed protocol and process to maintain the safest environment for our young people and staff.
  • We have created an internal task force that will establish practices for a longer-term safe environment. Those practices will again allow us to provide all the services that our youth need to transition them to independent living.
